Our Story
Founded in 2008, InChorus is a prominent contemporary community choir based in Peebles within the Scottish Borders. The group quickly came together with a focus on modern and contemporary music, rather than traditional choral pieces.
Over its almost 20 year history, InChorus has been guided by several musical directors, and we have tackled an extensive and eclectic repertoire. Our sets span a range of genres, including rock anthems by Queen and Led Zeppelin, modern pop by Ed Sheeran, and powerful classical pieces such as Va Pensiero by Giuseppe Verdi.
Far from being a small town choir, InChorus has in its time, reached beyond local performances on Peebles High Street and local festivals, we have also performed in the auspicious settings of Edinburgh’s Festival Theatre and Usher Hall, A major historical milestone occurred in 2011, when the choir travelled to New York City to represent Scotland at the 10th anniversary commemorations of 9/11, performing at the NYPD Memorial Concert.
Operating as a registered Scottish charity, we direct our musical passion towards achieving more philanthropic goals. By using our events to raise funds for both local and national causes, we're extremely proud to have generated more than £50,000 for UK charities over the lifetime of the choir. This dual commitment to performance and community support remains at the core of our ethos.
We are excited to be rapidly approaching our 20th anniversary, and as a choir we will always strive to deliver a diverse, fresh repertoire, that keeps the joyful spirit of Peebles alive through community-focused performances, ensuring that the passion, energy, and community spirit that defines the group will continue to bring people together for years to come.
