We were honoured to be the first choir to sing at Kailzie Live last weekend! Although the sun was conspicuous by its absence, the rain stayed away and a lovely day was had by all. Many thanks to the organisers for inviting us, and we look forward to seeing you again next year. Photos ©Ian Linton

InChorus were thrilled to be part of this historic event in the Scottish Borders! A small but enthusiastic group of us brought this hugely successful event to a close with some of our favourites. It had been a long day for our audience, but the small appreciative crowd loved us, dancing and singing along. Our lovely soprano, Avril especially enjoyed some banter with the fabulous Clementina. A small group of InChoristers (affectionately known as WeeChorus) were delighted to sing at St Ronan's Care Home in Innerleithen on Sunday afternoon. The weather might have been dreich but the mood in the home was bright and joyful. Thank you to the staff and residents for making us feel so welcome!

We are very grateful to David Ferguson for this lovely piece in the Peebleshire News about the activities of the choir and the mental health benefits of both singing and joining a choir. The members of InChorus all know that singing in a group is fun and rewarding; the feeling of community it generates and the confidence that individuals can gain from participating in performance as part of a group. There are many strong and long-established friendships that have come out of InChorus, so if you are new to the area, or just want to expand your local friendhip group, we would be delighted to welcome you to sit in on a rehearsal and see if InChorus is right for you. - Our Musical Mice are a Hit!

A couple of months ago, our lovely soprano Avril spotted an appeal for volunteers to knit and crochet little mice to help nursery children with their transition into the "big school" and and she put out a call for the InChorus crafters to assemble.
The Border Buddies scheme was launched by local councillor, Fay Sinclair, and aimed to provide every child moving from nursery to Primary 1 with a little pocket friend, this year to be accompanied by a copy of the book Mouse’s Big Day by Lydia Monks.
The Melodic Mousers WhatApp group was formed and quickly became a tight knit community, sharing photos, successes and questions as our mischief of mice grew by the day. Some were kidnapped by grandchildren along the way, but we smashed Avril's target of 100 mice and spent a lovely morning enjoying cake and coffee in her wonderful garden so we could hand our colourful charges over to Fay.
We had a lot of fun with this side-gig, we hope that the children of the Scottish Borders will love their new friends as much as we do. We even made it into The Borders Telegraph!

What an amazing evening of song! We were delighted to see so many people in St Giles Cathedral on Sunday evening. There were the familiar faces of family and friends, as well as visitors to the city, in our audience to hear our St Giles at Six performance. Each and everyone of us revelled in the thrill of singing within that magnificant setting. The memories of many weeks of rehersals fading as we heard the sound of our voices fill the vaulted arches high above our heads. A truly memorable night for InChorus.

- A Little InChorus Magic in Melrose

InChorus were delighted to be performing in Melrose last month and equally excited to be raising money for the George Crawford Legacy Trust, a fantastic charity based in Melrose which aims to provide opportunities for young people, of all abilities, and from all walks of life, to reach their full potential.
After a very short break over Easter, we will be starting preparations for our next gig at St Giles Cathedral, Edinburgh on May 31st!

The choir were excited to be invited to take part in the Peebles Orchestra concert …. A Night at the Musicals. This was a new experience and under the guidance of Ross Gunning, we rose to the occasion. All those young folk were enthusiastic and talented.
We would love to join you again sometime!

Some of our lovely sopranos getting the lowdown on St Giles choir stalls in August 2024. This was during the Edinburgh Festival and the cathedral was packed out with an international audience.
We very aptly ended with singing ‘All Over the World’ but our repertoire was very varied and one of the favourites was ‘The Seal Lullaby’ which was written by Eric Whitacre who apparently always wanted to write a Disney style song. So much better than many others! Another beautiful song in our repertoire is ‘O Love’ by Elaine Hagenberg. It brings a tear to a glass eye!

The lads premiered The Wellerman at our concert at the Eastgate Theatre on 27 June. It was obvious they weren’t missing the ladies and gave the Wellerman plenty of wellie!!

We didn’t win a prize but we got great support from the crowds lining the route! What a laugh! Fiona disguised herself well under a under a bunnet and a Tunnocks teacake. The walkers behind were so engrossed in dancing, singing and waving that they kept getting separated from our decorated truck driven by Tony.
We definitely brought InChorus to the people of Peebles.

Once again we have a busy Christmas season coming up, we will be popping up all over the place!
Come as see InChorus at the Traquair Fair on November 24th, or at Neidpath Castle on December 19th.
Our own Christmas concert this year is a fund raiser for The Food Foundation. This is our 2024 charity of choice which is based in Peebles – our home town. The charity provides good quality food to locals and businesses but it also trains young people in food preparation and cooking. They will be providing the mince pies at the concert. InChorus will be singing some of our 2024 repertoire which has something for everyone. A bit of contemporary, a bit of nostalgia and a bit of class – but it will be topped off with a sprinkle of Christmas magic. Do come along and enjoy the music and the grub – you can even wear a santa hat! Tickets will be £10 for adults and £5 for children from 5-16. Under 5s go free. Get them at the door or from McGraths in Peebles or The Hub at Innerleithen.
